I have no clue where Hershey got the things from, but the other day I found a couple of cantaloupe rinds out where the dog lays around most of the time. I do not know if it fell out of the trash or if someone through it into the woods. At any rate I had to find out, can dogs eat cantaloupe safely. It turns out that they say that this is actually very good for a dog. The truth is that you do not really have to think about that, because you can not get a real cantaloupe outside of Europe. I suppose you could grow them on your own, but there is probably a reason why none of the commercial growers in this country grow mush melons and so forth, which are called cantaloupes in the markets. Alton Brown says this is the case on the melon episode of Good Eats, which I obviously know way too much about.

At any rate the cantaloupe or the things that you call a cantaloupe is actually very healthy for a dog just like it is for you. It has a lot of Vitamins and antioxidants in it, the sort which you should be trying to get and they make a really healthy treat for a dog. I decided to try to freeze a few pieces and see if Hershey liked that. Of course it has been incredibly hot this summer and you really want to try as hard as you can to make sure that your dog keeps cool and hydrated. Hershey really spends a lot of energy for a dog that has such a thick luscious coat. It seems like he would be chilling in the shade as much as he could, but he spends his time barking at birds and planes.
